What is your furnace problem?
My gas furnace isn't producing any heat. First, make sure the thermostat is set to “heat” and that it’s set at your desired temperature. If it is, check the circuit breaker. If the circuit breaker controlling the furnace is tripped or the fuse is blown, you will need to reset the tripped circuit breaker or replace the blown fuse. If that's not the problem, Check the pilot light – if it’s out, relight it; and check the natural gas or propane control valve - if it's closed, open it.
My gas furnace isn't producing enough heat. Check the air filter first. If it's full or dirty, clean or replace it. If it's not the air filter, check the gas burners. If they are dirty or need adjustment, call Magnolia to have on of our expert HVAC technicians adjust them.
My furnace turns on and off too often. If the air filter is clogged or dirty, the motor will overheat causing the furnace to turn on and off too frequently. In this case, replace the filter. You can also try adding oil to the blower motor lubrication ports and should make sure the belt has proper tension (it should depress about one inch at the center). You can tighten the belt; but if it's frayed, it needs to be replaced.
The blower is always running. Check to make sure your "fan" setting on your thermostat is set to "auto" instead of "on". "On" keeps it running continuously. If the thermostat doesn't have a fan setting, you may need to replace or reset your furnace's fan limit control switch. If you don't know how to do this, call Magnolia today!
My furnace is loud. If the noise is a high pitched sound, the lower belt, motor or shaft bearings might need oil. If the sound is a low pitched rumbling when the burners are off, the pilot light may need to be adjusted. If the sound is a low pitched rumbling when the burners are on, call us to have an HVAC technician adjust, clean or replace the burners!
The furnace pilot went out. You’ll need to relight it! Not sure how to do this? Call us today and one of our HVAC professionals will be happy to help.
